New Delhi: The Defence Ministry on Saturday rejected the plea of Vice Admiral Bimal Verma, who has challenged the appointment of Vice Admiral Karambir Singh as the next Chief of the Indian Navy. Verma had questioned the government’s decision of overlooking him for the post of Navy chief despite he being the senior most. Rejecting his statutory complaint filed on April 10, Defence Ministry’s Joint Secretary (Navy) Richa Mishra clarified that though seniority is an important criterion while appointing services chiefs but it is not the “sole” criteria.
