Sebi’s new norms for the re-categorization and rationalization of mutual fund schemes may result in some changes in the way some schemes are defined. Several fund houses have recently merged, change names and basic attributes of some schemes to comply with the new Sebi norms. According to the circular released by Sebi on 6 th October, 2017,

NPS offers two accounts: Tier-I and Tier-II accounts. Tier-I is a mandatory account and Tier-II is voluntary. The big difference between the two is on withdrawal of money invested in them. You cannot withdraw the entire money from Tier-I account till your retirement. Even on retirement, there are restrictions on withdrawal on the Tier-I account.
