No Proposal To Reduce Retirement Age To 58 Years: Govt

New Delhi  (PTI) There is no proposal to reduce retirement age to 58 years of age or 33 years of service for central government employees, the Centre said today.

There are about 50 lakh central government employees.


“No such proposal is under consideration,” Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh told Lok Sabha in a written reply.


The government was asked to give details on whether it was proposing to reduce retirement age to 58 years of age or 33 years of service.


The retirement age for a majority of central government employees is 60 years. However, the age for retirement in case of teachers and scientists is 62 years.
